Life Update: April 2019

Life Update April 2019

Today, I’m coming at you with a life update on the blog. I want to discuss how my goals have been coming along that I set at the beginning of the year, as well as new ones I’ve created along the way. I also want to give a little update on how my 101 Things in 1001 Days project is coming along. If you’re interested in knowing what I’ve been up to the past couple of months, then you’re in the right place.

I feel like I started pretty strong with my goals at the beginning of the year, but as time went on, I’ve noticed that I’ve been struggling more and more.

One of my goals is to prioritize my health, and I feel like I’ve halfway accomplished this one. I’ve been making the effort to drink more water each day, and I started taking vitamins again. The one thing I’ve been failing at is getting more sleep. I’ve been staying up too late and then trying to wake up early, and it has just left me exhausted. I really want to try to get on a better sleep schedule, but working 2nd shift makes it hard for me to fall sleep most nights.

I’ve been doing pretty good at not letting fear get in my way of letting me do things. I used to be very particular about what I wanted to post on Instagram or my blog, but I’ve been doing a lot better than last year. I’ve also been doing good at reading at least one book per month. I’ve read one book for January, February and March, and I’m currently reading a book for April. You can keep up with my progress on Goodreads.

The area I’ve been doing the worst is my phone usage. After I discovered the Screen Time feature on my iPhone, I set myself a usage limit for each day. This helped for a while, but eventually I started hitting the ‘ignore’ button and now it has became a bad habit again. This is something I really want to get under control, because the amount of time I spend on my phone each day/week is pretty embarrassing.

I’ve also been continuing my search for a job in the public relations field, but I haven’t had any luck so far. I’m trying to take on some side projects to be able to add to my portfolio and resume. If anyone has any suggestions for ways I can gain more PR experience (without doing an internship), please let me know!

101 Things in 1001 Days Update

In case you missed it, I decided to take on a new project at the beginning of the year called 101 Things in 1001 Days. It’s just like the name sounds, I created a list of 101 things that I wanted to accomplish in 1001 days.

Start Date: January 13, 2019

End Date: October 10, 2021

Here are the things I’ve completed so far:

·      Buy and take care of a real plant – I technically didn’t buy my new plants, they were gifted to me from a coworker for my birthday. But I consider this one accomplished, because the main part of the goal was that I wanted a real plant to take care of, not just fake plants.

·      Give essential oils a try – I was sick around Christmas for about three weeks. I got sick again in February and I wasn’t taking any chances with letting it stick around that long the second time around. I got off work one day, stocked up on medicine, tissues and cough drops, and thought “Why not buy a diffuser and give essential oils a try?” I had heard that essential oils could have health benefits, so I thought it was a good idea. I bought a diffuser and a 4-pack of essential oils, and I was obsessed. And to make things even better, I was only sick for THREE DAYS versus THREE WEEKS this time. I don’t know if it was the oils or the fact I was trying so hard to get rid of the sickness, but I was really happy about it.

·      Buy a good quality everyday necklace – I had been eyeballing Mejuri’s zodiac necklaces ever since I saw them popping up all over Instagram. I bought the Pisces necklace for my zodiac sign and I’m obsessed with it.

·      Complete my Pokédex in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! – I’ve been really into Pokémon lately. I played some of the games as a kid growing up. I played Pokémon Go when it first came out, then I took a break, and now I’m playing it again more than ever. With a Black Friday discount, I bought a Nintendo Switch and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! I made it a goal to complete my Pokédex in the game, because I had never done it in an actual game before. With the help of my boyfriend playing along, I ended up completing my Pokédex in February.

I also have quite a few things on the list that are in progress or on track to complete by the time challenge is over. You can join Day Zero Project if you want to follow along with live updates of my progress, or if you want to create a list of your own!

One area that I want to make my main focus in the next couple of months is my blog. My hope is to get a newsletter up and running after I figure out how to create one. In the meantime, if you would like to sign up to receive my newsletter when it is ready, you can sign up for my email list here.

My ever-changing work schedule makes it really difficult to be consistent with blog posts. This is something I also want to work on. One thing I want to implement is spending a minimum of 15 minutes each day working on something blog related.

I honestly feel like so much has happened since the beginning of the year. I’m excited to keep working on different projects, and I can’t wait to see my progress and where I end up next.

What have you accomplished recently that you are proud of?

Until next time,
