Monthly Favorites: January 2021

I love planning date nights with my boyfriend, but there are just some days when I don’t want to leave the house. There are days when I would rather stay in my comfy clothes than get dressed up and go out in public. That’s why I personally love date nights that we can have at home. Whether you’re staying in because of the pandemic, a rainy day, you want to save money or you’re just looking for some inspiration for new date ideas, I’ve got you covered with these creative stay at home date night ideas.

20 Stay At Home Date Night Ideas

Themed Date Night

Pick any theme your heart desires. Maybe you choose to have an Italian theme and cook a new Italian dish you found on Pinterest. Throw on a movie set in Italy. Go all out with your theme and have fun with it!

Wine and Canvas Night at Home

You don’t have to be artistic to have a wine and canvas night. You can buy a paint by number set and complete together, or you can look up a painting tutorial on YouTube. Turn it into a competition to see who does the best job.

Have a Board Game Night

Who doesn’t love a good board game? Get out all your 2 player games and see who can win the most games!

Play a Video Game Together

There are so many different gaming systems out there, so there is surely a game for everyone. My boyfriend and I love to play various Mario Party games on the Wii or Switch.

Recreate Your First Date

Do you remember what you did on your first date? Try recreating the outfits you wore, make the food you ate or watch the same movie. Just try to recreate as much of the date as you can from home.

Choose Each Other’s Outfits & Have a Photo Session

Go through each other’s closets and pick out an outfit for each other. Once you’re done, be sure to document the outfits with lots of photos. You could even get creative and set up your own photobooth with props if you wanted to go the extra mile.

Do the Boyfriend/Girlfriend Makeup Challenge

If you haven’t seen this challenge, be sure to look it up on YouTube. Let your significant other do your makeup, or see if they will let you do theirs. The rule is that you can’t look in the mirror until they are done, and you can’t tell them how to put it on. It could either end up really well or really bad, but seeing the end result is the fun part and it’s sure to bring lots of laughs along the way.

Have Your Followers Decide Your Date

There is an Instagram challenge going around where people let their Instagram followers decide their day. They post various polls on their Instagram story, and whatever receives the most votes on the poll is the thing they have to do. It would be fun to turn this into a date night. You could realistically do it on any social media platform that has polls for people to vote on.

Compete in Minute To Win It Challenges

Do you remember the show, Minute To Win It? Contestants would have to compete in various one-minute challenges consisting of objects you would find around the house. Find random objects around your home and see what kinds of challenges you can create. There are also tons of ideas you can look up online to get you started.

Take Dance Lessons

Did you know you could take dance lessons from the comfort of your own home? There are tons of dance tutorials on YouTube, or you could sign up for lessons on various websites.

Try a New TikTok Challenge

If you’re obsessed with TikTok, why not try out one of the latest challenges with your partner? There are so many challenges out there, so just pick something that looks fun for you!

Relive Old Memories

Pull out the old photos, letters, notes and other various mementos and have fun taking a walk down memory lane. Discuss your favorite memories together.

Have a Spa Night at Home

Gather your candles, face masks and other spa essentials and set up an at home spa. Give each other massages or pedicures and have a relaxing evening together and pamper each other.

Go Camping Indoors

Make some s’mores in the microwave, or buy a s’mores kit online if you like to make them the traditional way. Set up some blankets on the floor as if you are camping in a tent, or pull out an air mattress. If you have a backyard and access to a tent, you could even set up the tent in your own backyard.

Have a Tasting Party

Gather up some wine and have a wine tasting party at home. Not a fan of wine? You could have a tasting party for any food or beverage you want! How about a chocolate tasting party? Or you could find various recipes on Pinterest to make and test them all!

Have a Cook Off

If you and your partner are competitive, then this one is for you. Choose a dish or a certain ingredient that each person must use. Set a timer and see who can come up with the best dish in a certain amount of time.

Plan a Love Language Date Night

Do you know each other’s love language? If not, be sure to take the test online to find out. Then plan a date centered around each of your love languages.

Plan Your Next Vacation

I’m sure by now we’re all itching to go out on our next vacation. Spend an evening looking for fun attractions, foods to try and places to stay on your next trip.

Karaoke Night

Find the karaoke versions of your favorite songs on YouTube and sing your hearts out!

Learn How to Make Sushi

This one will take a little planning as you will need to make sure you have the supplies. There are plenty of virtual classes you can find online, or you could look up sushi making tutorials on YouTube for free!
